Science at the Federation
At the Federation, we are enthusiastic in our approach to teaching Science and each year group endeavours to link their science lessons as closely to the topic as possible.
Children are given the opportunity to develop their enquiry skills and scientific knowledge through hands-on activities and practical experiences.
Children are encouraged to apply their learning to real-life contexts and to understand the importance and significance of science in everyday life.
In 2021, children and staff came together to create a shared 'vision and principles' for science. These visions and principles are central to the Science teaching at the Federation and are displayed all around school as a reminder of this. The quote on the bottom of the poster, written by a Year 6 pupil at the time, reflects the importance Science plays both in school and in the wider world.
Current affiliation with the Primary Science Quality Mark (PSQM) scheme, to renew our gold standard, is maintaining the profile of science and ensuring that our teaching and learning is celebrated.
The annual Science Event is a reflection of how we value science within our community and the broad diversity that it represents.
Throughout the year and across the Federation we collaborate with a variety of partners on school projects; this is something that the children enjoy enormously.
