Our School

Fawcett Primary School and Nursery is a well-established school in the heart of Trumpington.  The school is named in honour of Henry Fawcett, the distinguished Victorian academic and politician.

The school was built to meet the need of families moving into the new post-war housing in the area, with a separate junior school (opened in 1949) and infant school (opened in 1950). The infant and junior schools were amalgamated in 1989.

The school has been through a period of rapid expansion and development and has grown from one to two forms of entry.

We now work alongside our sister school at Trumpington Meadows to develop the best possible educational opportunities for our students.  We welcome families from the expanding Trumpington community and have a diverse and inclusive school family.

Our vision and values reflect our staff’s determination to support children and adults to grow and learn together, working in partnership with parents to ensure all children are ambitious and able to achieve their fullest potential.

We celebrate our inclusive culture and strive to provide the children with a range of fun, real-life experiences that will develop their understanding and appreciation of the world around them.

Our curriculum has been carefully designed to make the most of local opportunities, including offering the children trips and visitors to enhance and deepen their learning, whilst also being rigorous in ensuring children develop the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful at the next stage of their education.

Through our topic themes, specialist music and PE teaching, our expansion of our Forest School programme, and through extra-curricular opportunities, we strive to go beyond the National Curriculum and provide a dynamic curriculum that encourages creativity, problem-solving and a love of learning.

If you would like to see the work we do every day in school, please do contact the office and organise a visit.  We would be delighted to welcome you into our community.
