Home learning week beginning 27/04/2020
Hello everyone!
We hope you enjoyed your first week back at home school after the holidays and are ready for week 4 of home learning.
As usual, we would like you to fill in and sign your reading record, practise your spellings (set on spellingframe) and work on your times table recall every day, Monday – Friday.
We have also attached a handwriting booklet below so you can keep practising your handwriting.
Reading (see Reading week 4 booklet attached at the bottom of this page)
Monday - look at the picture on Page 1 and answer the ‘Summer Sunset - follow up questions’ on Page 2.
Tuesday - write the definitions for the words on Page 3 - ‘Summer Sunset - vocabulary’. Can you use each of the words in a sentence?
Wednesday - read the phrases on Page 4 ‘Sorting Advertisement vocabulary’. Which phrases would you use in an advert and which would you not?
Thursday/ Friday - complete the reading comprehension on Dinosaurs which is on Pages 5 - 9.
Maths (see Maths week 4 booklet attached at the bottom of this page)
Monday - Page 1 - practise putting numbers in ascending and descending order. Complete the activity before marking your work in a different coloured pencil (answers are on page 2). You can continue to challenge yourself by making up 4 x 5 or 6 digit numbers of your own (you could use a dice to give you each digit) and arranging them in ascending and descending order.
Tuesday - Page 3 - practise comparing two numbers using the greater than (>), less than (<) and equals (=) signs. Complete the activity before marking your work in a different coloured pencil (answers are on page 4). You can continue to challenge yourself by making up 2 x 5 or 6 digit numbers of your own (you could use a dice to give you each digit) and comparing them using <, > and =.
Wednesday - Page 5 - practise adding and subtracting numbers (some of which are negative numbers). Complete the activity before marking your work in a different coloured pencil (answers are on page 6). You can continue to challenge yourself by making up questions to solve which mean that you would have to cross zero on the number line. Can you make up word problems to solve which involve negative numbers, e.g. about temperature?
Thursday - Page 7 - practise rounding numbers to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000. Complete the activity before marking your work in a different coloured pencil (answers are on page 8). You can continue to challenge yourself by making up 3, 4 or 5 digit numbers of your own (you could use a dice to give you each digit) and rounding them to the nearest 10, 100 and 1000.
Friday - Page 9 - practise converting Roman Numerals to Arabic numbers (our number system). Complete the activity before marking your work in a different coloured pencil (answers are on page 10).
