Week commencing 20th Jan 2020
Downing class have been starting each day with some maths reasoning problems. We particularly liked Thursday's this week:
Thank you to Charlotte, Matilde, Pola, Zuzanna, Alyssa and Ryan who volunteered to be our poets for the Cambridge Holocaust Memorial Day event. A special well done to Zuzanna whose poem was chosen by Michael Rosen to be read during the event, and to Alyssa who read it so beautifully. Thank you also to Adjoa and George who sang in the choir. We were very proud of our year 6s!
In science, we have been continuing our 'evolution and inheritance topic' by thinking about how animal and plant adaptation links to natural selection and evolution. We read a brilliant book 'Little Changes' about a fictional species called 'The Rinkidinks'. The book is avaiable online here: http://www.rinkidinks.co.uk/GB/lc/
Once we read the book, we had great fun imagining what traits might have been adaptive for imaginary creatures living in different environments. Some extraordinary creatures were created!
